I don't know why it did that to you. Smilie It certainly didn't here. There may be differences in how your version of awk does rounding.

He didn't want 10,000 line files. He wanted to split a file of unknown length into ten equal pieces(nearly; obviously has to be a little wiggle on the last file when the number doesn't divide evenly by ten).
