Fill in missing Data
hello everyone,

I have a task to input missing data into a file. example of my data below:

This is what the data looks like in shell.

Each , is a space or empty cell. What i need to do is go through each column one at a time because theres thousands of lines and interpret the data and enter it.

Example:

In the first column is the first server reading:
0.7
0.9
1
<empty>
0.9
0.8

So it will go from the 1 to 0.9 and figure out the value that is missing. To get an accurate value you need to add +1 to the calculation instead of haveing just 1. (# of empty cells)

Do you mean you want to interpolate between the numbers? So 1,,.9 would interpolate as 1,.95,.9, except you want only one digit, so it'd round to 1,1,.9 ?

Exactly but not rounding. What ever Decimal it is I want it lol. But the amount of empty spaces needs to be +1 in the calculation.

What do you mean by "+1"? Add 1 to what? To a certain column? To a new column?

What should numbers >1 turn into, like 1.2? Which half do you want?

to the calculation when figuring out the value. Or do you not need that. Some areas within the columns have more then one value missing.

So you'd turn 1.1 into 2.1, then strip off the 2, to make it pure "1"? Smilie

How about you show the output you'd want for a few of those lines, instead of describing it?

This would be good. but without the rounding. Sorry for confusuion.
