How to compare two files line by line

Using diff to compare 2 files

FILE1:
Code:
AAA
AAA
AAA
AAA
AAA
AAA

FILE2:
Code:
BBB
BBB
AAA
AAA
BBB
BBB

diff FILE1 FILE2

here is result:
Code:
       >BBB
       >BBB
AAA AAA
AAA AAA
AAA |BBB
AAA |BBB
AAA <
AAA <

Is it possible to get the result line by line?
Code:
AAA BBB
AAA BBB
AAA AAA
AAA AAA
AAA BBB
AAA BBB

OR

1,2d1,2
Code:
AAA BBB
AAA BBB
5,6d5,6
AAA BBB
AAA BBB

OR
which command or script could output the same lines of 2 files?

Thanks.

sdiff gives a nicer output than diff, if you have that.

Otherwise, from the output you were looking for, there's paste.

Code:
$ sdiff file[12]
							      >	BBB
							      >	BBB
AAA AAA
AAA AAA
AAA |	BBB
AAA |	BBB
AAA <
AAA <
$ paste file[12]
AAA	BBB
AAA	BBB
AAA	AAA
AAA	AAA
AAA	BBB
AAA	BBB

Thank you.
Could diff or sdiff compare line1 of file[12], line2 of file[12] after comparison of line1,..., then output a result?
