How about this....

print -p 'IP=`last -1 |awk '\''{print $3}'\''`'

You better cut and paste this. The quoting is complex.

10x , it is really working although i couldnt follow up with ur quoting , can u please expalin a bit what is really going on .

I wanted to insert a single quote inside a single quoted string. So I broke the string into two pieces and put \' in between them. Each piece begina and ends with a single quote. So you get '\'' in both places where I do this. The rest of the quotes were yours.
