It seems the values are passing inside the SQL block, could you please confirm us whether its a function or procedure?

run stored procedure from shell script
SL_migratePortedNumbers is a Stored Procedure with one argument. However I tried the same code with another Stored Procedure without arguement however for that also I am getting blank in the output variable. So I believe it is not the problem with the SP whether its a Stored Procedure with argument ot without. Also if the procedure will fail due to argument atleast I should get some error value in the output variable. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong at any place.

Yeah, ur understanding is correct, it should throw error incase of invalid argument.

Can you just try the below code,

        AREA_CODE=11
 
        RETURN_OUTPUT1=$(isql -Usa -Ppassword -DPP_DB << EOF
        set heading off feedback off verify off
        set serveroutput on
        exec SL_migratePortedNumbers('$AREA_CODE');
        exit;
        EOF)
        #echo output $RETURN_OUTPUT1
        if [ "$RETURN_OUTPUT1" != "0" ]
        then
            echo "error in running SL_migratePortedNumberMapping"
            exit
        fi

Hello Siva,

I modified the code as RETURN_OUTPUT1=$?
Now I am getting RETURN_OUTPUT1=0 always even though the return value from Stored Procedure is 1.

Am I not getting the return value of the Stored Procedure in RETURN_OUTPUT1 variable or something is wrong with the code ?

I was trying to catch the return value which I will get after execution of Stored Procedure.

R u returning any values from stored procedure or using some OUT variables then how you are telling return value from stored procedure is 1.

Also, could u share the PL/SQL Procedure code.
