Printing a variable column using awk

Hi everyone,

Ok here's the scenario.

I have a control file like this.

Code:
component1,file1,file2,file3,file4,file5
component2,file1,file2,file3,file4,file5

I want to do a while loop here to read all files for each component.

Code:
file_count=2

while [[ -n $file_count ]]
do
file_name=`cat list.txt | grep $component | awk -F, '{ print $file_count }'
file_count=$file_count+1
done

This statement doesn't work at all. Please fix.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I'm working on Bash shell btw.

Try
Code:
file_name=`awk -F, -vextract=$file_count -vcomp=$component '$1 ~ comp { print $extract }' list.txt`
