Creating Empty File
Hi,

I want to create EMPTY File through Shell Script but not using touch Command,

Please let me know any work around..

Why can't you use the touch command?

Sounds a little bit like homework, so I'll just offer you this hint. What would happen if you redirected an empty string to a file?

Can i use like this...
cat \dev\null>ABC.txt
but while running on Unix Command Prompt it is giving error Cannot open devnull

You are using backslashes? Should be forward slashes.

Just

Yes , scott is right.

samadhanpatil ,
While you type in unix command prompt , you can press tab (if needed two times) after each letter you type. if the path is correct the directories/files starting in that name should list there.

cat /dev/null > ABC.txt ----> will create ABC.txt in present working directory.
