I see what you mean. ls or whatever gets sigpipe, not find!

This is what I mean:

1. This is OK (no -exec ...):

Code:
bash-2.03$ time { find / -type f | head -1 ;} 2>/dev/null
/var/sadm/install/admin/default

real 0m0.019s
user 0m0.000s
sys 0m0.010s

2. These don't seem to work like that:

Code:
bash-2.03$ time { find / -type f -exec grep -l log {} +| head -1 ;} 2>/dev/null
^C

real 0m5.290s
user 0m0.030s
sys 0m0.160s
bash-2.03$ time { find / -type f -exec grep -l log {} \;| head -1 ;} 2>/dev/null
/var/sadm/install/logs/Additional_Software_install.A01030304
^C

real 0m6.936s
user 0m1.630s
sys 0m3.620s

3. As I said, with xargs it's OK:

Code:
bash-2.03$ time { find / -type f | xargs -l grep -l log | head -1 ;} 2>/dev/null
/var/sadm/install/logs/Additional_Software_install.A01030304

real 0m0.027s
user 0m0.020s
sys 0m0.030s
