Fill missing values with 2

Hi All,
I have 100 .txt files which look like this:

Code:
3
4
5
6
7

Now, some files have some numbers missing in them and they look like this:

Code:
4

5

6

I want to fill in all those missing places with 2. I am using Linux.

What have you tried so far? Having 129 posts and 4 sides of started threads containg C programs and the like, I wonder myself you are not able to replace empty lines by "2". If you expect others continously to do your work without presenting any tries you made yourself, I will set your account to read-only.

Code:
sed -i 's/^[\t ]*$/2/g' *.txt

Try to learn from your previous posts...

My mistake. I should have posted what I've done. I tried with this PERL script but it is creating some extra 2's in the empty lines.

Code:
perl -pi -e 's/ /2/g' file

And here's the sed one which still is creating more 2's than required.
Code:
sed 's/ /2/g' file

@zaxxon. I apologize for giving such a notion that I only post my tasks here for others to solve. Next time all my posts will have one or two tried solutions. I am still learning scripting though. But if you notice in my older posts, when none are able to come up with a solution I post my solution either in C or in sed or awk for others to make use of. Sorry again! Smilie
