vgersh99,

How does the script know which "lcd" to look for? Let's say i have the script set up in cron to get the file from the S:\directory and put it in the Unix server. Will it has problem finding with "S:\directory" path anf from what machine?

Thanks

why not trying a couple of things - maybe a test script and see what happens...

I did test the other script. It can connect to the server but it can't find the file in the lcd path even the file is there. And how do i transfer it in ASCII instead of binary (default).

Here is the code:
Code:
#!/usr/bin/ksh

ftp -v -n "MY.IP.XX.XX" <<cmd
user "username" "password"
cd /optim/db/results
lcd S:\ID_CARDget ssh_install
get tu.txt
quit
cmd

and here is the results:
Code:
$ > ./transfer.txt
Connected to MY.IP.XX.XX
220 myhostname FTP server (Version 1.1.214.8 Fri Apr 20 07:27:42 GMT 2001) ready.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
331 Password required for username.
230 User username logged in.
250 CWD command successful.
usage:lcd local-directory
200 PORT command successful.
550 tu.txt: No such file or directory.
221 Goodbye.

what is your "working directory on the local machine"?

The script is executed from UNIX, right?
What is local and what is remote in your scenario?

Is "S:\ID_CARDget ssh_install" residing on your local or on your remote machine?

It seem like 'S:\ID_CARDget ssh_install' is a directory name with embedded space(s). "cd" or "lcd" take ONE argument. You'll probably need to quote your cd/lcd arguments to take care of that.
