Interestingly enough, I downloaded them from an older webpage (previous class) and loaded them back up (all through a web interface - so I have no idea what the basis is for the down/up part)

I have retyped the basic files, and everything works fine now. So the hidden LF/CR/??? is gone.

Since the backend of the webpage is on a unix box I can ftp to, I'll PUT them myself and see what happens (Yep in ASCII)

Thanks for everyones help - really appreciate it - I thought I was going crazy over the weekend.

if you're ftp-ing file from Windows to UNIX make sure you do so in ASCII mode.
