math calculation for a txt file

Hi All,

I have a text file which is only one column. I want to multiply all these values in file1.txt by 0.01 and get the output.txt
file1.txt

Code:
65
85
90
...

output.txt

Code:
0.65
0.85
0.90
...

Thanks.

Hi senayasma,

Using 'perl':

Code:
cat infile
65
85
90
perl -lne 'print $_ * 0.01' infile
0.65
0.85
0.9

Regards,
Birei

Code:
nawk -v m=0.01 '{print $1*m}' file1.txt > output.txt
OR
sed 's/.*/&*0.01/' file1.txt | bc > output.txt
