perl/shell script
The content of file t1.txt and t2.txt is as below:
t1.txt:
Code:
para1
para2
para3

t2.txt:
Code:
22
33
44

after the execution of the following command the content of ff.txt is given below:

paste t1.txt t2.txt | awk '{ printf "%-10s %s\n", $1, $2 }'>ff.txt

ff.txt:
Code:
para1   22
para2   33
para3   44

If i change the content of t2.txt as shown below:
t2.txt:
Code:
77
02
41

i should get the final o/p as:
Code:
para1   22   77
para2   33   02
para3   44   41



can anyone just tell me how to get this output through shell/perl script?

perl -e 'open F1 , "<", $ARGV[0];open F2,"<",$ARGV[1];while(<F1>){chomp;$append=<F2>;printf "%-10s %s", $_,$append ;}' ff.txt t2.txt >f2.txt

Of course you could save the Perl code as pasteIn10.pl if you need to do this frequently
