Hi,
I have an command which find the files modified within last 8 days and then after selecting the files from the location it make the tar format and send it to the specified destination ...now I want that this task to be automative ..that is it should happen after every 5 minutes ...for that also I have a small shell script ..

while [ 1 ]
do
find /home/499633/files -iname "*.txt" -mtime -3| xargs tar -cvzf /home/499633/output/backup.tar
sleep 300 ## for 5 mins
done


but the issue comes when I execute this script from the command prompt..it transfer the files to the output directory immediately ...that should not happen as per the script..!!

put the "sleep" command before the "find" command ..

done


Can u please confirm Jayan ...this way u were saying,,,,!!

Yes .. You are correct .. So initially the script will sleep for 5 mins then execute the below find command .. then again wait for 5 mins then execute it again .....(infinite loop)
