how to search array and print index in ksh
Hi,

I am using KSH shell to do some programming.

I want to search array and print index value of the array.

Example..
Code:
nodeval4workflow="DESCRIPTION ="" ISENABLED ="YES" ISVALID ="YES" NAME="TESTVALIDATION"

set -A strwfVar $nodeval4workflow
strwfVar[0]=DESCRIPTION=""
strwfVar[1]=ISENABLED="YES"
strwfVar[2]=ISVALID="YES"
strwfVar[3]=NAME="TESTVALIDATION"

Now my requirement is to search the strwfVar array for particular array value starts with "ISVALID=" and print index.

This i want to do with out looping Array.

You can for sure force an array scanning and compare the value and then if value match you're looking for, then display the corresponding index you were scanning.
But for sure it woud quickly become something heavy.

What are you trying to achieve that make you have such a need of "index-from-value" search?

What is you final goal ?


Please provide more clue about the input you have and the output you want, maybe there are some more efficient solution to achieve the final goal that is behind your question.
