Need to Zip files three years old or longer but leave folder structure intact

Hi all,

Hello everyone, my first post here Smilie. I tried to search the forum but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for...

I need to zip/tar files across entire filesystem which are more 3+ years old but leave folder structure intact. If the script locates tar/zip files they are more that three years old, script should ignore them..

So far I came to this lame incomplete script:
Code:

find /filesystem \( -mtime +1068 -a -type f -a ! -name *.zip -a ! -name *.gz -a ! -name *.tar \) \ -exec gzip "{}" \;

Does this look OK to you?

probably get a bit more efficency by doing this:

Code:
find /filesystem \( -mtime +1068 -a -type f -a ! -name *.zip -a ! -name *.gz -a ! -name *.tar \)  -print0 | xargs -0r gzip

Any reason to not want to gzip tar files? They compress pretty well.
