Unix Script Help - to grep an output and compute

Hi guys,

I'm not a frequent visitor of this site so please forgive if this has been asked before.

I'm trying to monitor the swap memory usage on my Solaris 10 Unix server.

The command I'm wanting to run is: swap -s

The output is:
total: 33332016k bytes allocated + 40373832k reserved = 73705848k used, 13414344k available

Could somebody suggest a script where I could get sent an email if "13414344k available" is for example less than "10000000k available".

Thanks in advance.

Code:

value=$(swap -s | nawk '{print substr($11,1,length($11)-1)}')
[ "$value -le "10000000" ] && mail -s "swap availability is $value" abcd@abcd.com < /dev/null || echo "swap availability is fine"

Thanks for the above code.

Ultimately awk came to the rescue again.

Cheers.
