That will actually work if a single file is found in the loop. That was my only and clearly insufficient test case Smilie

Oops, That should have been a single percent ${fname%/*} such that the shortest string matching the pattern / followed by zero or more characters would be removed. The %% matches the longest string which would include all but the upper most directory. Sorry for the confusion.
