Help with sed pattern matching
Hi

My log file is Testtmp2
Code:
cat Testtmp2

12:12:38
12:14:29
12:17:34
12:19:08
12:20:10
12:21:35
12:22:20
12:22:26
12:22:34
12:22:38
12:28:14
12:31:35
12:32:50
12:33:04
12:33:10
12:33:40

when i execute the following command, i get undesirable output..

 sed -n '/12:14:29/,/12:24:29/p' Testtmp2

are you trying to get the lines between 12:14:29 and 12:24:29 ?

Exactly ahamaed! But the problem is these values won't be hard coded . What i am trying to say here is illustrated here:

sed -n /$HOUR_FROM:$MIN_FROM:$SEC_FROM/,/$HOUR_TO:$MIN_TO:$SEC_TO/p $filename >> TempCount_File_${timestamp}

got it

while searching for /regex1/,/regex2/ if regex2 is not found, it maches from /regex1/ to end of the file.
