Need help with "awk"

Hello,

I have a data file which look like this

SUB_KEY|Acxiom_WLS_SMS_Key|MDN|MKT_CD|SITE_NAME|BILL_ACCT_ID|BILL_SYSTEM_CD|FIRST_NAME|LAST_NAME|RATE_PLAN_DESC|OfferVersion|CellCode|Drop_Sequence_Number1
179198215|WLS+133189130+179198215|2313885646|V2|SAGINAW/ITHICA-HOLD|2550033249601452|CV|Quentin|Hart|PAYG_EXPBAL_PLAN_1R|000011468_V411|A194|1

I want to remove coloum RATE_PLAN_DESC and its repective value.

please help.

cut is better for this, since it accepts ranges of fields. Tell it to print field 1 through nine, then fields 11 and up.

Code:
cut -d '|' -f 1-9,11- < infile > outfile

If you want to do it in awk............

Code:
awk -F "|" '{print $1"|"$2"|"$3"|"$4"|"$5"|"$6"|"$7"|"$8"|"$9"|"$11"|"$12"|"$13}'  < infile

what i want is remove relevent coloum values and add increment number(0,1,2,3,4) for that colomn.
