Is it better to use perl modules to achive date related caclulations or connect to database from app server and perform date related caclulations and spool it a file and disconnect and continue with actaul work?
2.
I am planning to connect data base server from application server. It is prompting for the password. is there any command or method where in which it should not ask for password?
Please help on the queries. any suggsetions will be helpful.
1. a) There are a number of core modules which provide reliable date manipulation and which have dealt with the edge cases. I would advise using them in preference to reinventing the wheel.
b) The DBI and DBD modules are easy to use, well tested and reliable.
c) Spooling to a file will require that your program remain running, however you could fork the process and let the writes happen in the background eg.
Would create a background thread which running the spool_db_request routine.
2. If you create a public/private key you can log in without recourse to passwords.
