IF loop in sqlplus
Hi all,

I am trying to use if loop inside SQLPLUS....is it possible...bcoz i tried a whole day with all the possibilities....no use...pls help

Here's the code:

sqlplus -s /NOLOG << EOF
connect $USER/$PASS
IF $KRITI = 0
THEN
create table kriti_employees(
emp_id         VARCHAR2(6) ,
         first_name     VARCHAR2(20) ,
         last_name      VARCHAR2(20) ,
         email          VARCHAR2(10)
        );
else
 ///i want to print some statement like echo 'try'
end if;

Kindly tell me how to do this......

SQL isn't a programming language. If you need those type of constructs, you should use PL/SQL.

Or, simply in shell with:

if ...; then
  sqlplus -s /nolog << !
conn user/pass
...
!
else
   echo "...."
fi

Please stop writing nonsense like "u", "bcoz", etc. Thanks Smilie
