Bug search and replace with sed command
hi,

suggest me in the below script..

if [ a -eq 1 ]

In above I wanna replace "[" and "]" with "[[" and "]]".

bash-3.00$ sed -e 's/\]/&&/g' -e 's/\[/&&/g' /tmp/myfile
if [[ a -eq 1 ]]

bash-3.00$ cat /tmp/myfile
if [ a -eq 1 ]

In the pattern area, the backslash is only necessary before the opening bracket, the otherone before the closing bracket is useless (since no opening bracket before, it is taken as litteral) :
Code:
$ echo "if [ a -eq 1 ]" | sed 's/\[/&&/g;s/]/&&/g'
if [[ a -eq 1 ]]
