Hi All,

I am very new to scripting and wanted to write a script for comparison of folder including binary files like ear's and jars. Following is the job for which I need it:

1. Compare two folders recursively
2. Compare the binaries like ear's but exclude files like MANIFEST files
3. Display the result of the comparison flagging only the changed files.

I did try cmp but it only flags if there is a difference or now.

The ear's that I am comparing always have a new Manifest file in them when I compile but the classes remain the same. Hence I want to ignore the manifest files and just compare the classes.

Any help with this is much appreciated.

Maybe rsync -av --exclude=MANIFEST --dry-run /path/to/source/ /path/to/target/ will solve your problem, see rsync man page for other options.
