read command not waiting for my input, please suggest.

Its not asking me any input?

First of all, use Code Tags when you post any code or data samples so others can easily read your code. You can easily do this by highlighting your code and then clicking on the # in the editing menu. (You can also type code tags [code] and [/code] by hand.)

The UNIX and Linux Forums

You have two read statements, both in a while loop with the input redirected from an input file. Both read statement will get the input from that file. If you want to read from a tty, specify that with:read </dev/tty.
