Problem in ssh

Hello All,

Iam using the following command to get the details from a remote server.

Code:
 ssh server2 su - mqm -c "sh /var/mqm/test1.sh"

The control will not come out once I run this command.

I have set up the required public/private key between server1 and server2 and it works fine.

The contents of test1.sh is as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Code:
echo "dis ql(IN*)" | runmqsc DEVEBRK1

-------------------------------------------------------------------

This is an MQ command. The same command

Code:
su - mqm -c "sh /var/mqm/test1.sh"

runs fine when I login to server2 run it.

Can anyone tell me how to solve this?

Thanks
Balaji.

When I tried to execute a construct like this on our redhat linux server, i got a
Code:
standard in must be a tty

error message.

One idea worth trying would be to wrap the su - stuff in the script:
Code:
su - mqm -c 'dis ql(IN*) | runmqsc DEVEBRK1'

Then just
Code:
ssh server2 "sh /var/mqm/test1.sh"

Try "-t"

Try it with a "-t".

Code:
 ssh -t server2 su - mqm -c "sh /var/mqm/test1.sh"

I had a similar problem where the script was running on the box I was SSHing from, not the box I was SSHing to. Using "-t" fixed it for me.

Hello Mrini,

Your idea worked. Thanks a lot.

@Rmccc444,

Your option of -t did not work out. The control was remaining in the remote server itself and no output was printing.

anyways thanks for both of your suggestions.

Balaji.
