Question What's wrong with this small script?
Hi all,

Here is a little script, that - as far as i know - is supposed to print the current active tcp sessions on port 22 (ssh). The first echo command - where i entered the port directly - works fine. In the second case i tried to use a variable, and it doesn't work, it gives no result. What's wong with it?

Code:
#!/bin/bash
 
echo $(netstat -ntp|grep '^tcp\W.*:22\W.*ESTABLISHED')
 
p_port=22
echo $(netstat -ntp|grep '^tcp\W.*:$p_port\W.*ESTABLISHED')

Hi.

Try using double quotes around the grep. The shell won't expand "$p_port" otherwise.
