Script to Poll Directory and Copy files

Hi all, I'm looking for a script to poll a specified directory and copy new files to another location.

The script should only copy new files so, I based on mtime I guess?

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a script which could do this?

My scripting skills aren't too bad, but the only way I can think of is a really infinite nasty loop!

Which OS? There's many different kernel systems (and accompanying tools) to check for new files / file changes, eg. inotify for Linux, kqueue/kevent for *BSD, FAM and Gamin might even support other OS (didn't check). That way you could have either an infinite loop that only runs when a file changed event occurs, or (in the case of inotify) have a tool monitor a directory based on conditions, and process the output of the monitor.

I need to copy about 13 Tb of data from one directory and subdirectories to the other (another mount point). If I run this as a cron, say between 10 pm and 7 am, not all of the files will be copied over. Is there a way of 'resuming' the copy the following evenings until all files are copied over?
