Hello,

that's strange I can't make it work on my system (solaris 10)

I still keep the line with no change :

look :

Code:
var="/data_val/SATURNE/MASTER/PRE/SATURNE_1dAV_20110308_20110309_T3D_T_FCST_R20110223.nc 3581376"

Code:
echo $var | sed -e 's!\(^.*\)/\([^/ ]*\) \([0-9]*\)!\2 \3 \1!g'

Code:
/data_val/SATURNE/MASTER/PRE/SATURNE_1dAV_20110308_20110309_T3D_T_FCST_R20110223.nc 3581376

I was using my GNU sed on my Debian box - maybe there is something similar on your Solaris box? It even works with sed on my AIX box and that one is usually very picky compared to the GNU sed.

I lil' fix:
Code:
echo $VAR| sed 's!^\(.*\)/\([^/ ]*\) \([0-9]*\)!\2 \3 \1!g'
# OR simply avoiding the anchor at all:
echo $VAR| sed 's!\(.*\)/\([^/ ]*\) \([0-9]*\)!\2 \3 \1!g'
