Hello,

How can i use awk '{print substr($1......
is order to grep a parameter from the first time i encounter a specific characther.

I.e

ABC=ahaakl/123456/ksksk

i want to grep only 123456

(It must be using awk substr)

Short version, without use of substr():
Code:
echo "ABC=ahaakl/123456/ksksk" | awk -F"/" '{print $2}'
123456

Very long version using substr(), index() and length():
Code:
echo "ABC=ahaakl/123456/ksksk" | 
awk '{print substr(substr($0,index($0,"/")+1,length($0)-index($0,"/")),1,index(substr($0,index($0,"/")+1,length($0)-index($0,"/")),"/")-1)}'
123456

It could be shorter than last one if we use other functions, maybe split, match etc.

If you ksh is a modern version of ksh93, you do not need to use an external utility such as awk or sed
Code:
$ ABC=ahaakl/123456/ksksk
$ print ${ABC//[a-z\/]/""}
123456

# 4

Using parameter expansions
Code:
ABC=ahaakl/123456/ksksk
ABC=${ABC#*/}
echo ${ABC%/*}
123456
