Didn't the hello script just contain:
Code:
echo $0

I would like to see the output from the following commands:

Code:
$ type pushd
$ type popd
$ type dirs

Your response should look something like this (the blue bits are what you typed and the black is what the shell echoed back):

Code:
$ type pushd
pushd is a shell builtin
$ type popd
popd is a shell builtin
$ type dirs
dirs is aliased to `echo ${DIRSTACK[@]}'

Based on post #1, I have a gut feeling the OP isn't using pushd to add to the directory stack. Instead maybe the OP should type in a terminal...
Code:
history > ~/my_history

and then type in...
Code:
cat ~/my_history | grep "cd "

You get a useless use of cat award Smilie Try grep "cd " ~/my_history

I should have known that was coming, but I did it that way because the OP seems very file oriented.
EDIT:
Code:
history | grep "cd "

is even shorter. Thx Corona688

Title of the thread seems to indicate otherwise

I agree, however the OP has yet to post anything asked related to pushd or popd. Hence my gut feeling.

Iennetastic, if you want us to help you, we need you to follow the exact instructions that we give to you.

Please do not describe the output to us. That is a waste of your time and our time. Cut and paste the actual input and output into your reply.

There have been 27 posts in this thread so far and I do not believe that we know any more about your problem now than after your first post. People are willing to help you but if you are unwilling to work with people in solving your problem, there is not much we can do to help you.
