If the PATH were the problem why does the command ccantplot work in tcsh. The PATH is essentially the same in both bash and tcsh.

Because apparently you're changing your working directory ...

I can also run the other executable runantplot in the antplot/ directory no problem. Wouldn't a funky PATH make it impossible for that to run?

They may be linked in your home directory Smilie
I don't know, just run bash with --norc or invoke the script using the full path ...

'cause you're cd-ing in either .bashrc or .profile. And you don't do that in either .cshrc or .tcshrc

Check you .bashrc and .profile files and see you're using 'cd' anywhere (as stated by alister).

That's interesting new error when using the full pathname

Code:
Script started on Fri 25 Feb 2011 04:08:58 PM EST
[kit@class ~]$ cd antplot

[kit@class antplot]$ /home/kit/antplot/ccantplot
gcc: antplot.c: No such file or directory
gcc: get_color.c: No such file or directory
gcc: antinp.c: No such file or directory
[kit@class antplot]$ exit
exit
Script done on Fri 25 Feb 2011 04:10:15 PM EST

When I try bash with --norc I can't get past my home directory.

Could you elaborate further? Could you copy/paste what you're seeing in your terminal?

Thinking of the original question ...,
why did you decide to switch to bash now?

Code:
Script started on Fri 25 Feb 2011 04:10:22 PM EST
[kit@class ~]$ bash --norc
bash-3.2$ cd /home/kit/antplot/
bash: cd: antplot: No such file or directory
bash-3.2$ exit
exit
[kit@class ~]$ exit
exit
Script done on Fri 25 Feb 2011 04:15:02 PM EST

The directory changed to /home/kit but never changed to antplot
