Bash can't find file but tcsh can why?

Your PATH does not contain ~/antplot. From the looks of it, your bash startup (i assume .bashrc) is changing to the home directory (what vgersh99 is pointing out). By the time the script is searched for, you are no longer in the directory with the script and its location is not in your PATH.

1. The entire exact content of the file ccantplot:

P.S. I don't understand why we see !bash, what's the bang (!) for?

!bash just executes the last 'bash' command found in history - beats going through the history line at a time Smilie

Radoulov's --norc suggestion should work around the problem, but someone should really clean up your bash's startup files.

I'll talk to our Sys Admin on Monday, but all that extra crap isn't necessarily harmful. It is just ugly.
If the PATH were the problem why does the command ccantplot work in tcsh. The PATH is essentially the same in both bash and tcsh.
