I 'm using Solaris 10...

Try /usr/xpg4/bin/sed instead of sed

Not necessarily sed to be used. Can I do it in some other way... ? May be use cut ? Or loop through the lines after the first occurrence of /* till you get the next */ and delete the traversed lines.... kinda something like that ?

It still removes only the starting line of the comment part...

Text /* line 1
line2 */

gives -->

Text
line2 *

From /* to End of line is removed

Am not sure, why or how the last slash alone (in */ ) is removed..
