Query regarding ssh keygen

Hi,

I have two Unix servers A and B. I have a script in server A. I want to connect to server B from A using ssh only and without giving passwords everytime i connect. I went through other posts regarding this and I generated a public key in server A and copied that in server B. Now when I closed the current session and started a new session and tried connecting to server B from server A using ssh, it once again prompted for a password.

Can someone please explain where the problem is? Is the key gen generated valid only for the current session ? Am I missing something here? Will the procedure be any different if it is a windows server?

Thanks in Advance..

So you ran ssh-keygen on server a and added the id_rsa.pub (if you generated an rsa key) to the ˜/.ssh/authorized_keys file of the user you are connecting as on server b?

Are the permission (and ownership) of the .ssh directory, and authorized_keys file for that user on server b correct?

As you mentioned I ran ssh-keygen on server A and added the id_rsa.pub to the ˜/.ssh/authorized_keys file in server B.

The file permission for ssh folder in server A is 755 and for the authorized_keys in server B is 600. Are these file permissions correct?

Thanks

folder .ssh should always be 600 or 700
