How to delete first record from all the file?
hi All,
need help...!!
I want to delete header record from all the files in current directory.
using sed command i can delete first record from a file but i want to delete first record from all the files so can anybosy help me how can i do this?

I will appreciate your help.

Since you know how to do it for a single file, for multiple files replace the filename with *.

use for loop for that..
Code:
ls -l > file_list
for i in `cat file_list`
do 
   sed '1d' $i > new_filename
done

I also tried with * but still it was deleting first record from first file only.

Hi Rajesh...

Thanks a lot dear it is working ... I made some changes like instead of ls -l i used ls only and
instead of sed '1d' $i > new_filename i used sed '1d' $i >> new_filename.
