find string containing searchpattern
Hi!

I would like to grep in a variable for a search-pattern and sent it to a different variable.

e.g.:
variable $dirk: "abc cde fgh" #strings separated by spaces
I would like to search in variable $dirk for the string which has pattern "ab" and send it to variable $ab.
So result would be $ab: "abc"

Environment is HP-UX Shell.
