snmpwalk timeout

can somoene please tell me how to tell snmpwalk how many seconds it has to timeout?

i searched the web for this but i can't find it.

i'm incorporating this into a script, and I'd like to have snmpwalk timeout within a certain amount of seconds.

the -t option doesn't seem to work because when I pass that value to snmpwalk, it still takes the usual time it takes to return back to the prompt:

Code:
snmpwalk -v2c -c jaba@$5 -t 1 didmon.blah.blah.net

Some versions support '-t', others use '-T'... Usually the value is assumed to be in tenths of seconds or milliseconds (refer to your local docs).

My version of snmpwalk (net-snmp) doesn't even have an option to specify a timeout.

OpenView SNMP reads a configuration file (ovsnmp.conf) where you can set an initial timeout value.

But you didn't mention what OS you are using, so these are just guesses.
