Hi,
Extremely new to Perl scripting, but need a quick fix without using TEXT::CSV
I need to read in a file, pass any delimiter as an argument, and convert it to bar delimited on the output. In addition, enclose fields within double quotes in case of any embedded delimiters.

I have more than 1000 files to parse. Each file contains few lines (number of lines varies) followed by a header line having all column's name (SPOT, NAME etc) and then values for those columns.
**Example File:

I have a csv file and there is a problem which I need to resolve.
Column1,Column2,Colum3,Column4
,x,y,z
,d,c,v
t,l,m,n
,h,s,k
,k,,y
z,j, ,p
Now if you see column1 for row 1 and row 4 though they are null there is a space but in case of row2 and row 5 there is no space.

I am trying to extract 'postmaster' from the following string:
PenaltyError:=554 5.7.1 Error, send your mail to postmaster@LOCALDOMAIN
using the following command:
cat /usr/share/assp/assp.cfg | grep ^PenaltyError:= | cut -d '@' -f1 | cut -f8
but it returns:

cut - remove sections from each line of files
SYNOPSIS
cut OPTION... [FILE]...
DESCRIPTION
Print selected parts of lines from each FILE to standard output.
With no FILE, or when FILE is -, read standard input.
Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-b, --bytes=LIST
select only these bytes
-c, --characters=LIST
select only these characters
-d, --delimiter=DELIM
use DELIM instead of TAB for field delimiter
-f, --fields=LIST
select only these fields; also print any line that contains no delimiter character, unless the -s option is specified
-n (ignored)
--complement
complement the set of selected bytes, characters or fields
-s, --only-delimited
do not print lines not containing delimiters
--output-delimiter=STRING
use STRING as the output delimiter the default is to use the input delimiter
-z, --zero-terminated
line delimiter is NUL, not newline
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit
Use one, and only one of -b, -c or -f. Each LIST is made up of one range, or many ranges separated by commas. Selected input is written
in the same order that it is read, and is written exactly once. Each range is one of:
N N'th byte, character or field, counted from 1
