Java Compare two files
Hi,

I have two files like this:

file1.txt
HD007
HD004
HD001
HD005
AB002
AG007

file2.txt
AB002 AAAAA 120456
AG007 AAAAA 120123
HD001 BBBBB 456789
HD004 CCCCC 784135
HD005 DDDDD 111010
HD007 EEEEEE 201464

I want to compare the two files and get the first and third column of the second file but sorted like the first file.

In other words, I want to reprint the first file but with a second column containing the relative information of the second file.

If you'd want a script; why don't you use awk command inside your bash script?

I need a perl script. I'm using "grep" inside the script, but it's very slow.

you can use awk effectively. check your man page.
