Date/Time for command
Hello all,

Part of a script I am writing needs to check for a certain date..

example

If it is saturday between 1pm and 2pm, kick off this script.../directory/script.sh

need some pointers as to what the best way to do this is.

crontab is you best bet:

15,30,45 13  * * 6   /directory/script.sh > logfile

Note: be sure you completely define your environment insdie your script, ie., run your home profile.

The bit with * in it means:
at 15,30, and 45 minutes after 1300 on Saturday.

You can tink around with that to get what you want.
6= saturday
1,30,45 = minutes after the hour
1300 = hour

Hi again All,

We do not have access to CRONTAB. Is there any way I can do this using "man date"

Yeah you can do it with scripts.

Also there are some perl modules using which you can manipulate with dates, and execute your script if the current date and time is within the expected date/time.
