Replace a word after a particular word in a file

Hi,

I want to replace a word in a file which occurs after a particular word.

For example :
Code:

$cat file.txt
CASE
   WHEN
      AND c1 = 'I'
       AND c2= '2'
        THEN 1
   WHEN
      AND c1= 'I'
       AND c2= '0'
        THEN 2

So in this example i want to replace the AND which occurs after WHEN.

SO the required output :
Code:

$cat file.txt
CASE
   WHEN
             c1 = 'I'
       AND c2= '2'
       THEN 1
   WHEN
             c1= 'I'
       AND c2= '0'
       THEN 2

# 2
Old 11-11-2010
Code:
perl -i -pe 'BEGIN{undef $/}s/(WHEN\s+)(AND)/$1/gs' file

# 3
Old 11-11-2010
Thanks.
But i am looking for a solution in unix not perl.

Try this,
Code:
awk '/WHEN/ { print ; getline;gsub(/AND/,"");print}1' inputfile

# 5
Old 11-11-2010
sed:
Code:
sed '/WHEN/{N;s/\(\n[ \t]*\)AND/\1/;}' infile

or this, which will also clean up the AND if it appears on the same line as WHEN..
Code:
sed '/WHEN/{N;s/\(WHEN[[:space:]]*\)AND/\1/;}' infile
