Track Sftp process

Have used SFTP just recently.
I only execute three (3) commands in the batchfile:
* ls
* put [filename]
* ls

I test the RC of the SFTP ($?) and if not zero (0) then an alert is raised.
I wasn't able to narrow down particular error codes, nor did time permit me to spend too much time playing with the topic. If there is a problem, then it would be identified in the log.
Suggestion, if you have time, is to self generate as may possible errors and see what you come up with.

Something I do in my Perl
if(eval { sftp::get("<parameters>") } )
{
#The SFTP connection failed
print ("Failed FTP Login/Password Authentication\n");
}

Hmm!

what are the parameters exactly I should use to know the:
1) login failure
2) target host disk is full
3) connection termination
...etc.

Possible to track FTP user last login? Last and Finger don't track them.

Like the topic says, does anyone know if it is possible to check to see when an FTP only user has logged in? Because the shell is /bin/false and they are only using FTP to access the system doing a "finger" or "last" it says they have never logged in. Is there a way to see when ftp users log in... (1 Reply)
