changing a shell

i have created users but those are not listing in HOME directory...and i want to change a shell to another shell...can any one reply me with solutions..

Well, it is all in /etc/passwd, unless you yp or nis!

Use mkdir and chown to create the home directories if your command failed to do so. Usually this is done automatically with something like useradd -m ... . Use usermod to change the shell. This applies to local users only, i.e. users that are defined on the system itself.

You can create users across a domain of machines using yp (yellow pages) or nis (network information service). Local users are mostly defined in /etc/passwd or the like, but it is best, very wise to let the commands modify that for you.
