The below is out put of grep command

grep -i create trigger trig1.sql
trig1.sql:CREATE TRIGGER X.Y
trig1.sql: CREATE TRIGGER X1.Y1
trig1.sql: CREATE TRIGGER X1.Y2
trig1.sql: CREATE TRIGGER X1.Y3

That is why i am using $4 in awk.

you should use:
Code:
grep -i "create trigger" filename

The semicolon at the beginning is probably due to a CR-LF, where $4 then becomes a CR (carriage return). Convert the input file from DOS format to Unix format first, for example by using dos2unix.

Put double quotes around "create trigger"

Code:
grep -i "create trigger" trig1.sql | awk '{print "DROP TRIGGER\t" $3 " ;"}'

The fist line only has three fields. Consider using grep -h instead
