ssh annoyance

I have this script that routinely ssh into another host to collect data from that host.

However we have these annoying boilerplates on all our machines that flood the screen from all the ssh's.

Any way to filter this stdout but allow all the other stdout? In other words, the second you ssh into another machine, the boilerplate doesn't get displayed to putty? Thanks

Try creating a ".hushlogin" file in your account's home directory on the remote machine:

Code:
ssh user@server
touch .hushlogin

Do I put anything in there or just create the file?

If the latter is true then it had no effect.

.hushlogin works on the MOTD, but this is the ssh banner that is being displayed. This does get sent to stderr so you should be able to 2>/dev/null or use ssh -q. Careful, since doing this may hide other errors...
