can anyone help me to explain all the commands in the .profile bourne shell below ? really appreciate ur help. PLEASE.

This sounds suspiciously like some kind of Homework or assignment question.

You could try and find out about some of the commands yourself (man stty, man eval, man tset). Also, read your shells manpage (man sh, man ksh, man sh-posix, whatever). There are lots of documents about shell initialisation on the internet (there's one here - Customising Your Home Environment for starters - this covers the EDITOR and PATH variables).

You should STFW a bit before posting - Googling for "Bourne Shell Profile" has
35,000 results.

Do a bit of homework regarding your own homework before asking questions!
