Bug Help using awk
For example , log could have the following entries in xml format.

<Service name> XXX </servicename>
        <ns1:Application xmlns:ns1="xxxxxxxxxxx">UI</ns1:Application>
        <ns1:Client xmlns:ns1="xxxxxxxxxxxxl">amex</ns1:Client>
        <ns1:Channel xmlns:ns1="xxxxxxxxxxxxxl">vpp</ns1:Channel>
         <ns1:Class xmlns:ns1="xxxxxxxxxxxxxl">vpp</ns1:Channel>
         <ns1:Transport xmlns:ns1="xxxxxxxxxxxxxl">vpp</ns1:Channel>
          

        <ns1:Application xmlns:ns1="xxxxxxxxxxx">BW</ns1:Application>
        <ns1:Client xmlns:ns1="xxxxxxxxxxxxl">subway</ns1:Client>

Like this for different services have logs with similar entries n format

I need to write a script which could search this log files and give me a report on the services by application, by client, and by channel.
something like
Code:
 servicename
   <app><client> <channel>
....

so from above example
Code:
  XXX 
     UI amex vpp
     BW subway CSR
     PW Dishnet CSR

There could be duplicates which i need to filter those too.

Can anyone guide me how to go about writing this script using awk?

Thanks for the prompt response for my post.

I am noobie Smilie in this , and I was reading the fundamentals of awk n breaking my head to understand what you wrote
