Shell Programming and Scripting

hi there,

i have written the following simple lines:

find $SCENE -name "*.xml"
echo -n "Input the name of the image file to be read: "
set im_name = ($<)

i like to set the value for im_name automatically to the .xml, which was found by the first line without having to input it. the problem is, that the find instruction delivers two different .xml files and i only want to choose one of them. how can i automatically identify the right .xml and set it as the value for im_name?

If find show two file, that mean there are 2 files . . .

If you don't tell us how you decide witch is the right file, how could anyone know how to script that ?

well, the find instruction gives you the path to the following two files:

directoryA/directoryB/directoryC/1.xml

and

directoryA/directoryB/directoryC/directoryD/2.xml

i am looking for the first one. the structure of the directories is always like this. does that help?
