Need to compare two files.
Hi Friends,

Hope you are doing well out there.

I need help in comparing 2 files and amend the second file.

The file 1 is
Code:
ICCIR2Test11, ApplicationIntegration-Carisma, STOPPED
ICCIR2Test11, BillableItemGathering-Gemini, RUNNING
ICCIR2Test11, BillingAccounting-Gemini, STOPPED
ICCIR2Test11, BPOrderExecutionManagement-Gemin6, UNDEPLOYED

and file 2 is
Code:
ICCIR2Test11, ApplicationIntegration-Carisma, RUNNING
ICCIR2Test11, BillableItemGathering-Gemini, RUNNING
ICCIR2Test11, BillingAccounting-Gemini, STOPPED
ICCIR2Test11, BPOrderExecutionManagement-Gemin6,RUNNING

I need to write a script which will compare these files and if the field 1 and field 2 of file 2 is same as the field 1 and field 2 of file 1, then check if field 3 of both the file is same. If it is, then write "No Change" in the Fourth field of the file 2, otherwise wite "Changed" in the fourth field.

The desired output is like this

ICCIR2Test11, BillableItemGathering-Gemini, RUNNING, No Change
ICCIR2Test11, BillingAccounting-Gemini, STOPPED, No Change

Can you please let me know how this can be achieved using awk?

Try this:

awk -F, 'NR==FNR{a[$1$2]=$3;next}
a[$1$2] {$3=$3 != a[$1$2]?$3=$3 " Changed":$3=$3 " No Change"}1' OFS="," file1 file2

Sure, here we go:

awk -F, 'NR==FNR{a[$1$2]=$3;next}
a[$1$2] {$3=$3 != a[$1$2]?$3=$3 " Changed":$3=$3 " No Change"}1' OFS="," file1 file2

Explanation:
Code:
awk -F,

Change field separator
Code:
'NR==FNR{a[$1$2]=$3;next}

When we read the 1st file we fill an array a and use $1$2 as index and $3 as the value.

The 2nd line affects for file2.

a[$1$2]

If the first 2 fields of file 2 exist as an index in array a...
Code:
{$3=$3 != a[$1$2]?$3=$3 " Changed":$3=$3 " No Change"}

... and the value of $3 is not equal to field 3 of the first file
we add " Changed" after field 3. Otherwise we add " No Change" after field 3.
